Dr.Kevin De Ornellas is well known to Riverside regulars, as he is the Theatreís principal deliverer of pre-show talks.

Kevin gained his doctorate from Queen's University Belfast and currently lectures on Renaissance Literature and Renaissance Drama at the Ulster University and has been delivering pre-show talks regularly in Riverside over the last nine years.

His engaging style and obvious passion for the history, development and practice of Theatre have resulted in him pre-performance speaking in here on writers as diverse as Shakespeare [Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream], Brian Friel [Making History], Harold Pinter [The Caretaker], Sean O'Casey [Juno and the Paycock], Peter Shaffer [Equus], Frank McGuinness [The Factory Girls], Shelagh Delaney [A Taste of Honey], Willy Russell [Blood Brothers], the American drama Steel Magnolias and many others.

Kevin publicly interviewed one of Ireland's most significant playwrights, Professor Frank McGuinness, on stage prior to a performance of McGuinness's translation of Ibsen's GHOSTS.

Kevin also interviewed Ulster University Chancellor JAMES NESBITT and the BBC's MARK CARRUTHERS in a public event in Riverside during Riverside's 35th Anniversary celebrations.
